dc.description.abstractAl realizar la caracterización de residuos sólidos, se comienzan a procurar alternativas de separación de los residuos orgánicos, vidrio, papel, cartón, metales y otros como, papeles, toallas y papel higiénico. Además es un método que sirve para conocer su composición en el ambito institucional. A través de dichos estudios, es posible elaborar informes que apoyen los sistemas de gestión ambiental de la Universidad Catolica de Oriente, siendo estos referentes para realizar acciones de protección al medio ambiente y responder a las condiciones ambientales cambiantes, en equilibrio con las necesidades socioeconómicas que, mediante actividades de mejora del desempeño ambiental y la medición con indicadores del rendiemiento hacia el logro de objetivos ambientales globales, que permiten generar éxito a largo plazo y crear opciones para contribuir al desarrollo sostenible. El aforo de residuos realizado desde el año 2015 hasta el 2019 demuestran que la generación de residuos sólidos en la Universidad Católica de Oriente viene disminuyendo, adicional, el análisis de variables como la densidad, el poder calorífico, la humedad y el peso por tipo de residuo, apoyan al establecimiento de los indicadores GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), permitiendo de esta manera elaborar informes sobre la sostenibilidad de sus operaciones y el grado de responsabilidad ambiental.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishWhen carrying out the characterization of solid waste, they begin to seek alternatives for the separation of organic waste, glass, paper, cardboard, metals and others such as paper, towels and toilet paper. It is also a method that serves to know its composition in the institutional sphere. Through these studies, it is possible to prepare reports that support the environmental management systems of the Universidad Catolica de Oriente, being these references to carry out actions to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions, in balance with the socioeconomic needs that , through activities to improve environmental performance and measurement with performance indicators towards the achievement of global environmental objectives, allow generating long-term success and creating options to contribute to sustainable development. The waste characterization carried out from 2015 to 2019 show that the generation at the Universidad Católica de Oriente has been decreasing, additionally, the analysis of variables such as density, calorific value, humidity and weight by type of waste, support the establishment of GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) indicators, thus allowing the preparation of reports on the sustainability of its operations and the degree of environmental responsibility.en
