| spa |
dc.description.abstractenglish | The export of flowers has been a very important economic alternative within the commercial activity of Colombia, taking it to occupy the second place worldwide in the production and export of flowers, however, some of the flower producing companies use dyes to dye their flowers. These dyes are not used efficiently, therefor colored wastewater is generated, which, if not properly treated, represents a major environmental problem because they are discharged into rivers and streams, generating possible damages to the aquatic biota. For the treatment of colored waters, there are physical, chemical and biological treatments, some can be very expensive, therefore, in this research, we want to evaluated the color removal of effluents from the floriculture industry, through the immobilized Orellana fungus (Pleurotus pulmonarius) in airlift or fluidized bed reactors. For this evaluation, in the first instance, the fungus was grown in three substrates, which were coffee gravel, wheat bran, and corn bran, then the culture medium that favored the growth of the fungus in the shortest time was selected, being in this case, the gravel coffee substrate is the most successful. Finally, for the dye degradation process, three different forms of immobilization of the fungus biomass were used; coffee gravel, scouring pad and sodium alginate, with which the color removals were 96.28%, 87.85% and 80.54% respectively. Evidencing that the treatment with fungus immobilized in coffee gravel and scouring pad was more efficient, since these means of immobilization contribute to the removal of color through the adsorption process, which was quantified when using the coffee gravel and scouring pad as witness treatments. During this research, very useful data was produced that can be used by the flower industries, which will allow them to produce effluents with less impact on the receiving water sources. | en |
