dc.description.abstractEl presente artículo tiene como objetivo interpretar los motivos que generan fracaso escolar en los estudiantes del grado sexto D de la Institución Educativa Técnico Industrial Santiago de Arma (IETISA). Para acercarnos a este objetivo se identificaron, clasificaron y relacionaron los diferentes motivos que fueron mencionados por los estudiantes (vacíos académicos, influencia de pares, desmotivación, transición de básica primaria a básica secundaria), padres de familia (acompañamiento), docentes (retroalimentación de la evaluación, estrategias metodológicas, relación docente - estudiante) y escuela (sistema atención a padres, sistema de evaluación), en las entrevistas semiestructuradas y grupos focales. Estos instrumentos pertenecen a una investigación con metodología cualitativa, bajo un paradigma histórico hermenéutico y un diseño de carácter etnográfico. La información permitió hacer un diagnóstico real, para implementar acciones específicas que permitan revertir los efectos negativos del fracaso escolar a mediano y largo plazo en la institución, y así crear un ambiente propicio donde el estudiante se interese y motive por superar los obstáculos que le impiden desarrollar sus competencias y poner en práctica sus habilidades. En las conclusiones se presentan varias recomendaciones a los diferentes actores (estudiantes, docentes, padres de familia y escuela), con el fin de que conozcan los motivos que generan fracaso escolar y logren abordar esta temática, lo que ayudará a la comunidad educativa a crear estrategias de prevención coherentes y adaptadas que minimicen sus efectos negativos sobre los resultados académicos del estudiante.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishThe objective of this article is to interpret the reasons that cause school failure among students of the class sixth D at the Institución Educativa Técnica Industrial Santiago de Arma (IETISA). To be able to approach this objective it was necessary to identify, classify, and relate the different reasons mentioned by students during the semi-structured interviews and focal groups. These reasons are related to the students (learning gaps, peers’ influence, demotivation, the transitionfrom primary school to secondary school), the students’ parents (company), the teachers (feedback to evaluations, methodological strategies, teacher-student rapport), and the school (support to parents, assessment system). These instruments belong to qualitative research under a historical and hermeneutical paradigm with an ethnographic design. The gathered information allowed us to have a real diagnostic and then to implement specific actions to prevent the negative effects of school failure in the school in the short and long term. In that way, an appropriate climate was created in which students can be interested and motivated to overtake obstacles that prevent them from developing and practice their skills. In the conclusion, there are some suggestions arisen from the research process that are addressed to different publics (students, teachers, parents, and the school), with the aim that all participants know the reasons leading to school failure and reflect on this topic. Therefore, each school must identify the causes of that failure since it will help to implement coherent and adapted prevention strategies that minimize the negative effects of those factors on the academic performance of students.spa
