dc.description.abstractLa cartilla "Conectándote con la vida: conociendo la realidad del suicidio y cómo prevenirlo" (Universidad Católica de Oriente, 2022) es un material psicoeducativo que busca sensibilizar a la comunidad sobre la importancia de la salud mental y la prevención del suicidio. Explica qué es el suicidio, aclara mitos y realidades, y presenta los principales signos de alerta, factores de riesgo y factores protectores que influyen en la conducta suicida. Asimismo, ofrece orientaciones prácticas para brindar apoyo desde la empatía, la escucha activa y la validación emocional, destacando la importancia de acudir a redes de apoyo y profesionales de la salud. Enfatiza que hablar del suicidio no incrementa el riesgo, pero el estigma, la indiferencia y la falta de información sí lo hacen. El documento se convierte en una herramienta de acompañamiento, prevención y promoción de comunidades cuidadoras de la vida.
dc.description.abstractengThe booklet Connecting with Life: Understanding the Reality of Suicide and How to Prevent It (Universidad Católica de Oriente, 2022) is a psychoeducational resource aimed at raising awareness of the importance of mental health and suicide prevention. It explains what suicide is, clarifies myths and realities, and highlights the main warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors related to suicidal behavior. The material also provides practical guidance on how to offer support through empathy, active listening, and emotional validation, while stressing the role of social networks and health professionals. It emphasizes that talking about suicide does not increase the risk, but stigma, indifference, and misinformation do. The document serves as a tool for prevention, accompaniment, and the promotion of life-affirming communities.
