dc.description.abstractLa Universidad de Medellín, la Universidad Católica de Oriente, la Universidad Adelphi, el Tecnológico de Antioquia y la Corporación Empresarial Oriente, aunaron esfuerzos con el propósito de realizar la investigación Desarrollo de una metodología para la localización de patios de contenedores y puertos secos en el Oriente antioqueño. Subregión Altiplano a partir de un estudio de factibilidad. Al obtener información de gran valor sobre los patios de contenedores, el grupo de investigadores decide hacer una cartilla para compartir algunos temas y conceptos sobre los contenedores con los estudiantes de diferentes instituciones. Cabe reiterar que la pretensión de este trabajo es democratizar el conocimiento obtenido en el desarrollo de la investigación. Por ello, la cartilla está escrita en un lenguaje sencillo para que sea de fácil entendimiento para estudiantes, docentes y personas interesadas en conocer del tema. La estructura del documento está dada por una introducción y diez capítulos en los que se presentan los siguientes temas: el concepto de contenedor; evolución del contenedor a través de los años; tipos de contenedores; partes del contenedor; sistema de identificación; patios de contenedores; contratos de arrendamiento que se deben tener en cuenta; terminal de contenedores; recomendaciones para optimizar el uso de contenedores; responsabilidades de las empresas transportadoras; puertos y agentes de carga; y un mapeo de los principales puertos que manejan contenedores. Cada capitulo cuenta con una propuesta para que el lector desarrolle algunas actividades relacionadas con los temas presentados.es_ES

dc.description.abstractenglishThe Universidad de Medellín, the Universidad Católica de Oriente, the Universidad Adelphi, the Tecnológico de Antioquia and the Corporación Empresarial Oriente, joined forces with the purpose of carrying out the research project Development of a methodology for the location of container yards and dry ports in the Oriente Antioquia. Altiplano sub-region based on a feasibility study. After obtaining valuable information about container yards, the group of researchers decided to make a booklet to share some topics and concepts about containers with students from different institutions. It should be reiterated that the aim of this work is to democratize the knowledge obtained in the development of the research. Therefore, the booklet is written in simple language so that it can be easily understood by students, teachers and people interested in learning about the subject. The structure of the document is given by an introduction and ten chapters in which the following topics are presented: the concept of container; evolution of the container through the years; types of containers; parts of the container; identification system; container yards; leasing contracts to be taken into account; container terminal; recommendations to optimize the use of containers; responsibilities of carriers; ports and freight forwarders; and a mapping of the main ports that handle containers. Each chapter has a proposal for the reader to develop some activities related to the topics presented.es_ES
