| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | This article addresses the transition from primary to secondary school from the social imaginaries that shape the behavior of those who go through it, including students, teachers, and families. These beliefs and actions associated with social imaginaries significantly influence how a student makes the transition to secondary school, their academic and social performance, and therefore, the continuity of their educational trajectory. This transition is particularly prone to high dropout and repetition rates in the Colombian context. To delve deeper into this matter, a theoretical-documentary investigation was carried out on social imaginaries and educational transitions, approached from the postulates of Cornelius Castoriadis (1975) and José Gimeno (1997), respectively. It was found that the social imaginaries surrounding the transition from primary to secondary school focus on an abrupt step towards maturity. The transition is perceived as a rite of passage into adulthood and elicits feelings of mourning and celebration among educational actors, especially families. Adopting a neurobiological perspective on this transition allows for a reevaluation of the concept of instant maturity and the formulation of actions and thoughts inspired by contributions from neuroscience. This involves considering the developmental processes of the adolescent brain and their implications in the educational sphere. In this way, the aim is to promote appropriate support strategies during this transitional stage, fostering a more comprehensive and contextualized approach. | spa |
