The quality of the water of the rivers that contribute to a reservoir is very important for its proper functioning, therefore, this study evaluated the water quality by determining physical, chemical, microbiological parameters and the water quality index. (ICACOSU) of the three rivers associated with the San Lorenzo reservoir (Nare, Nusito and San Lorenzo rivers), through various samplings, which were carried out in the months of drought, rain and transition (June, September and November) for eight years. In general, the variables show small fluctuations during the study period, this is due, in the first instance, to the geographical position and topographic location of the neotropical high mountain environments, where the variations are very slight. Likewise, the results determined that the conditions of the evaluated rivers presented an adequate water quality for the preservation of the aquatic ecosystem, since high levels of oxygen, low levels of dissolved solids and COD were found (7.6 mg/L, 42.1mg/L y 12.33 mg/L respectively), suggesting that the water of the Nare, San Lorenzo and Nusito rivers has optimal conditions for the growth and reproduction of various aquatic organisms, however, high values of turbidity, total and fecal coliforms were observed (25.06 NTU, 17802 NMP/100ml y 2889.4 NMP/100 ml respectively), however, these charge relevance when defining the use for which the water is intended. Finally, ICACOSU, categorized the three rivers evaluated with good and excellent quality throughout the sampling period.en
