The damming of rivers produces physical, chemical and morphological alterations in their channels, due to the regulation of their water flows; these alterations can directly affect the stability in the structure of the macrobenthos (benthic aquatic communities), since they can modify the substrate and the arrangement of the organic matter, generating a change in the links of the trophic network of the system and its functionality. Environmental and biological data collected in quarterly sampling between 2010-2018 were analyzed, with the aim of characterizing the evolution of the community of aquatic macroinvertebrates by analyzing its structure and composition in the rivers tributaries to the Punchiná and San Lorenzo reservoir in the period from 2010 to 2018. Using generalized linear models, composition, abundance and true diversity and multivariate analysis, significance was found in the physico-chemical variables such as: temperature, OD, electrical conductivity and nitrates in the 5 tributaries studied, a greater abundance of aquatic macroinvertebrates was presented at the AECNUSI site with 10,548 individuals and the lowest abundance was ACNARE with 3,301 specimens, tributary rivers to the reservoir Punchina showed greater diversity, predominant taxa as Melanoides (gastropod), Baetidae sp (ephemeróptero), Chironomidae sp (diptera) Mesoveloidea (hemíptero), Simulium (diptera), Smicridea (tricóptero), Terpides and Tricorythodes (ephemeropters). The San Lorenzo system did not present significant differences in wealth, species in common and dominant species; the presence of organisms was marked by orders such as Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera and coleoptera, the most abundant family was Leptoceridae, followed by Elmidae and Leptohyphida. Variability in the structure and composition of the aquatic macroinvertebrate community was very significant on a spatial scale compared to the temporal scale. In fact, the ENSO phenomenon did not have effects on the variation in the structure and only some reductions in abundance and richness attributed to rainy seasons were presented, finally the biological indices applied to these bioindicators (BMWP/Col, ETP and Díptera) showed very good water quality, except in RG2 and AECNUSI which presented regular conditions associated with the high concentration of SST.en
